The Power of Why
Having a clear goal in mind for your accent modification journey is important. Knowing what it is and knowing what needs to happen for you to get there is important. Being able to define your goal clearly is necessary to clearly feel a sense of accomplishment.
But even then, having a clear idea of WHY it is important and what you hope to gain by accomplishing it is important.
Knowing the WHY lets you tap into your motivations, which can empower you to prioritize, stay accountable, and see it through.
Many people can establish a goal for themselves but when the time comes to execute, there are other distractions and interests that bog us down, that take our time away from what we say is important.
So I’ve jotted down some questions that I hope inspire you to consider and apply for your own situation.
What is important about being a better English communicator?
How important is it for you to start taking steps to making better English communication a reality? On a scale from 1-10.
How long have you been saying to yourself that it is important?
And do you feel you truly think it’s important? Or is it something you should feel is important or have been told is important?
And if you were to haven taken some small steps towards this goal since you first identified it as a goal, how far along do you think you’d be by now?
You and I know that we make time for important things.
We don’t find extra time for them.
We make time for them.
So, if being a better English communicator truly is important to you, what will you commit to doing within the next week to move the needle on this goal?
Not can, not could, not might, but what will you do?
Finding something, anything, that you can guarantee will be done in a week’s time is important.
Deciding when in your schedule within the next week that you will actually do it is important.
Setting that time aside in your schedule and protecting that time in your schedule to focus your thoughts and energy towards that task is important.
The execution depends on protecting that time for yourself.
So what can YOU do in the next week to move the needle?
When will YOU set aside time to do it?
I hope to hear about it next week and all you have to do now is execute.
